The Need to Decarbonize
Every major climate report from the past ten years concludes that reducing carbon emissions will not be enough: we will need to remove carbon from the atmosphere.
We will capture and store carbon and sell carbon credits. Several jurisdictions have established carbon markets for industry. In 2021, the European Union carbon market was valued at $851 billions*.
How Carbon Sequestration Works
Blue Skies Minerals is developing the Carbonated Tailings Process. In this process, atmospheric CO₂ is captured by a Direct Air Capture (DAC) system and is converted into a carbonated solution. This solution is blended with mining wastes, along with additives, and the resulting mixture is disposed together with waste rock. Carbon is converted to carbonate minerals and is retained permanently.
The Carbonated Tailings Process eliminates metal leaching from mining wastes, providing a tangible environmental benefit.
